12 Days Maasai Mara & Kilimanjaro Hiking lets you enjoy Masai Mara plain for 2 Nights and then take a hike of Mt Kilimanjaro. This safari is suitable for wildlife lovers and mountain hikers. There is a lot to spot while in Masai Mara which is Kenya including the Africa big five animals, antelopes, unique bird species, water animals, beautiful landscapes and also great moments like the annual wildebeest migration will not be missed.

For the case of Mt Kilimanjaro, enjoy the best of Hiking to the summit (Uhuru peak) standing at an elevation of 5895m above the sea level. And the trail used is the Machame route known as the whiskeys route hence the most popular route since it’s the challenging, difficult and steep.

Day1. Arrive in Nairobi Kenya

Be picked from the airport in Nairobi on your arrival and this could be probably in the evening. The driver guide will brief you about this amazing Safari to Masai Mara in Kenya and Mt Kilimanjaro in Tanzania. Head to the hotel for your accommodation and meals.

Day2. Transfer to Masai Mara

Leave the hotel in the morning and head to Masai Mara national reserve one of the oldest protected areas in Africa with diverse wildlife including the big five animals. The journey will include a stopover at the equator viewing point for great photos. Arrive and take a game drive in the evening where you will spot different wildlife and the beautiful scenery of the sunset.

Day3. Explore Mara plains

Explore Masai Mara plains using the a game drive for a whole day where you get to spot different animals such as lions, elephants, buffalo, rhinos, wildebeest, jackals, impala, crocodiles, topi, Jackson heartbeats, bush backs, water bucks and many more others. The game drives will give you a chance having a great time in sunrise, picnic lunch and sunset. Create everlasting memories while on this great day in Mara plains.

Day4. Fly to Arusha and drive to Moshi town

Breakfast will be served and then transfer to the airport where you will fly to Tanzania. Meet another tour representative that will take you to Moshi town.

Day5. Machame gate to Machame camp

Breakfast will be served and then transfer to Mt Kilimanjaro national park at Machame gate for briefing and acquiring all the required materials that you will use on Hiking such as ropes, supportive Hiking sticks, tents and many more. At this point t, you can hire some Porter’s that will help you to carry some luggage and food. Begin the hike with a guidance of the park ranger guide and the porter as you pass through the rain forested area. Spot some monkeys and birds plus plants. Cover about 11km taking about 6 hours hike but very rewarding to reach Machame camp where you will spend a night.

Day6. Machame camp to Shira camp

Be served with a heartily breakfast after a heartily breakfast and then proceed with a hike which will take about 5 to 6 hours. The valley crossed is long and you will encounter the river gorge on the west and this will create everlasting memories. Arrive and camp at Shira camp for another night in the mountains.

Day7. Shira-lava tower-Barranco camp

This is the day when you will end the day at the same point and this will be an important for acclimatization or attunement. Pass through the Shira plateau and proceed to eastwards to ridge. Proceed to shark’s tooth and then the second junction that will lead to arrows glaciers and then we make the final stopover at Barranco camp taking about 5 to 6 hours.

Day8. Barranco to Karanga camp

This hike takes 3 to 4 hours to the next camp called Karanga hut with an elevation of about 4034m above the sea level, this is an alpine desert area. Proceed with a steep ridge to the Barranco wall and this takes you to Karanga valley which connects to Mweka trail. At this point, it’s time to see the ability, strength and power of the crew trekker since tougher Days beginning. Spend a night at Karanga camp and this will be another adventurous day.

Day9. Karanga camp to Barafu camp

We proceed Hiking to Barafu camp and Barafu is a Swahili word meaning ice. This means that at this point freezing will be experienced. At this point, have a great view of the beautiful scenery and the surrounding while on this camp. Early dinner will be served as we prepare for a Summit night conquer.

Day10. Barafu camp-Uhuru peak, descend to Mweka camp

Wake up as early as midnight and hike to conquer the summit that is Uhuru peak which stands at 5895m. This will be a one step at a time and very interesting as you discover the real adventure that is emotional. While on the summit, enjoy photos of memories and then begin to descend to Mweka camp with a stopover at Barafu camp for resting and lunch. At Mweka camp, enjoy the last night in the mountain.

Day11. Mweka camp to Mweka gate and drive to Moshi town

It’s time to say goodbye to the crew after a heartily breakfast. Descend more to Mweka gate and this time sign out and return all the hired materials, and at this point, you will meet the driver guide who will take you to Moshi town for an evening massage after being rewarded with a certificate of Hiking.

Day12. Drive to Arusha and fly home

Leave Moshi in the morning and head to Arusha for your flight back home to mark the end of the safari.
