8 days Uganda big mammals and primate Safari

Overview

The Uganda big mammals and primate Safari will take you to the famous national parks in Uganda with a chance of spotting the big five animals, big and small primates like the chimpanzees, mountain gorillas, olive baboons, black and white colobus monkeys and many more others. The game drives, boat cruise, chimpanzee tracking and Gorilla trekking will be the major activities.

Have another experience of visiting Isunga community where craters and crops like coffee, tea and bananas will not be missed during this great day. The point where the equator crosses Uganda will also be seen on the last day of your Safari.

Detailed tour plan

Day 1. Head to Murchison falls from Kampala/Entebbe

Begin the Safari by meeting up with the driver guide and then transfer to Murchison falls national park. This journey will include different stopovers including the one on the roadside market and another one at Ziwa sanctuary for Rhino trekking. This tour lasts for about 2 hours and then proceed to the park lodge for your accommodation.

Day 2. Game drive and boat cruise

Wake up on breakfast and then head for a morning game drive in the northern part of the park. This is a savannah offering the best of wildlife viewing and will with a chance of spotting four of the big five animals; these are leopards, lions, elephants and buffaloes.

Apart from four of the big five, spot giraffes, hartebeests, bushbucks, waterbucks, oribi, hippos spotted at the hippo pool, warthogs and more.

A break to enjoy fruits at the hippo pool and the whole experience will take about 2 hours but of great memories. After lunch break, embark on a bait cruise which will take you to spot water loving animals like the hippos and crocodiles. On the banks of the river, there will be animals like elephants, buffalos and other antelopes will be quenching their thirsty. Also, enjoy the beautiful scenery of the Murchison falls from the bottom. Return to the lodge for dinner and night’s stay.

Day 3. Head to Kibale and Isunga community tour

Leave for Kibale National Park a home to 13 primates. The road trip to this park includes having a great view of the surrounding including the tea plantations, banana and coffee plantations. 9n your arrival, you will be served with lunch and later on have a community walk in Isunga village by a local guide from Isunga cultural community tours. This association is tended to enhance visitors experience through exploring the local community. During this tour, enjoy crater lakes, plantations of banana, tea, coffee and vanillas and many more others.

Day 4. Chimpanzee tracking and Bigodi swamp walk

Begin the day with breakfast and then head to the park office for briefing in Kanyanchu visitor’s center. This exercise includes the dos and don’ts, materials you need to have and many more others. Trekking will immediately commenced after you are dropped at the starting point together with the park ranger guide. Meeting a community of chimpanzees gives you a chance of spending an hour in their presence as you spot different animals like the Red tailed monkeys, L’hoest’s monkeys, red colobus monkeys, Vervet monkeys and many more.

After the experience, be rewarded with a certificate of trekking at the information center and then head for hot or packed lunch. Immediately head for Bigodi swamp walk for about 2 to 3 hours which is an important for bird watching and primates. Olive baboons, red colobus monkeys, black and white colobus monkeys and more are seen. Head back to the lodge to mark the end of the day.

Day 5. Head to Queen Elizabeth National Park and launch cruise on Kazinga Channel

Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park after a morning breakfast. The drive will begin after either leisure breakfast or optional activity but with great scenic view of the surrounding covered with crater lakes and plantations of Banana. Arrive and head for a boat cruise on Kazinga Channel as you will spot the crocodiles and hippos as the antelopes and other big mammals will be at the banks of the river. Don’t miss out migratory birds on the channel.

Day 6. Game drive and head to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

Have a game drive which will last for 2 hours and this is an opportunity where you get to learn about the beautiful scenery of the endless scenery, wildlife like the buffalos, elephants, antelopes like the Uganda Kobs, birds like Abyssinian ground hornbill and others.

After this tour, head to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park passing in Ishasha sector with a great chance of spotting the rare tree climbing lions. Arrive and check in the lodge for your dinner.

Day 7. Gorilla trekking

Gorilla trekking will begin with breakfast and then briefing follows which will be the same like that of chimpanzee tracking. Tracking will begin and this will be a good time of creating memories as you spend an hour in the presence of the gorilla family trekked. Also, meet other wildlife creatures such as varvet monkeys, red colobus monkeys and many more. After have the rest of the evening relaxing and leisure.

Day 8. Head back to Kampala with a stopover at the Uganda Equator

Leave for Kampala in the morning with a stopover at the Uganda equator and this will be a memorable experience in your lifetime by taking photos, buying hand-made crafts and experiment. Be dropped at the airport and this will mark the end of the Safari.
