Overview

Have a good time on this 4 days Rwanda gorillas and golden monkey trekking Safari where you will encounter the rare primates in Africa that is the golden monkeys and mountain gorillas in the Volcanoes national park. Each experience will offer you a chance of spending an hour in their presence learning and discovering there behaviors, movements and more.

Apart from these primates, there is a lot to see such as the beautiful hillside, the waterfalls, plant species, birds that are unique and many of the butterflies if it’s a season of breeding. Optional activities will also be there like that of visiting the Dian Fossey graveyard, Lake Kivu, the twin Lake of Ruhondo and Burera and more others.

Day 1. Drive to Volcanoes national park from Kigali Rwanda

Be welcomed by the driver guide that will take you through a short notice on how this tour will be conducted. Then, transfer to Volcanoes national park one of a few protected areas in Africa that homes the rare endangered mountain gorillas. Enjoy the surrounding including the beautiful highlands. Arrive after a 3 to 4 hours’ drive for your dinner and overnight stay.

Day 2. Gorilla trekking tour

Wake up on breakfast and head to the park offices in Kinigi for briefing and at this point, it’s where the experience of gorilla trekking begins from. Be told about what to follow while in the forest 8n form of the guidelines, also the material you need to carry, dress code and many more others. Trekking will begin immediately after crosschecking your gorilla trekking permits and assignment of the park guide to help you to locate the gorilla family.

Upon finding the gorillas, spend an hour in their presence and this will create everlasting memories as the gorillas will be searching for food, playing and the Silverback will be practicing its leadership skills. While in the forest, there is a lot to spot such as the varvet monkeys, red tailed monkeys, unique bird species, plants and many more others. Later on head to the lodge with your trekking certificate.

There will be an option of taking a Dian Fossey graveyard hike in the evening to get the real history and wonder of this great women in Volcanoes national park about her conservation practices and her introduction of the habituation process of mountain gorillas in Africa.

Day 3. Golden monkey trekking

Like the previous day, head to the park offices for briefing about golden monkeys. This time be told about the dos and don’ts where use of flash camera light will be highly emphasized since the golden monkeys tend to draw closer. If you are lucky enough, meet a family of the gorillas in this wild.

Golden monkey Trekking lasts between 3 to 6 hour including an hour that is spent following these primates. Leave the forest and have lunch with an option of visiting the Iby’iwachu cultural village for the cultural experience.

Day 4. Depart to Kigali and fly back tome

Have an optional activity of visiting the twin lakes on this day that is Lake Ruhondo and Lake Burera while on your way back to Kigali. Head to the airport in Kigali to mark the end of the safari.
