BOOMU WOMEN’S CAMP
Boomu women’s camp is situated at the edge of Murchison falls national park, the name of the camp is derived from a local word “Boomu” to mean “together” just as the group was created by women to work together for mutual benefit and benefit of the communities
The group was created in 1991 by a group of 40 women from kiragara and kihaguzi villages who had little produce left over to sell, it was formed to reduce poverty, malnutrition and providing an income for members to be able to pay their children’ fees
The camp is approximately located 100 yards from Murchison falls entrance and less than 10 km from kaniyo pabidi chimpanzee eco tourist viewing site, the group is also under Uganda community tourism association. This is one of the budget options close to Murchison falls national
