The 4 days Mgahinga gorillas and golden monkey trek allows you to trek the rare primates that is gorillas and golden monkeys with an addition of taking a Batwa cultural trail. Mgahinga national park is a home to different wildlife species and the outstanding ones are the golden monkeys and Gorillas.

There is one habituated gorilla family (Nyakagezi). This tour will give you a great me memory of discover the True roots for the Batwa pygmies in the forest. Have a stopover at a unique point where the equator crosses Uganda.

Day1. Drive to Mgahinga National park from Kampala

Leave Kampala in the morning after breakfast or convenient time and transfer to Mgahinga gorilla national park a home to only two habituated gorilla families. The journey takes about 9 hour’s drive and this is full of beautiful scenery covered with different vegetation types. A stopover at the Uganda equator for photography viewing and experiment. Arrive at the lodge in the evening and this will mark the end of the day

Day2. Gorilla trekking

Begin the day with briefing immediately after buffet breakfast and this will be at the park offices. Adventure begins as you penetrate the forest searching for these rare species as you meet other primates and birds. Spend an hour in the presence of the gorilla family trekked and this will create everlasting memories as the gorillas will be breastfeeding, playing, feeding and many more others. After, you will head back to the lodge after 3 to 8 hours walk in the forest.

Day3. Golden monkey trekking and Batwa cultural trail

Begin the day with breakfast in the morning and then briefing about golden monkey trekking. During briefing time, you will be told about the dos and don’ts to follow such as use of flash light camera is highly recommended not like for gorilla trekking. There is no limited number of trekkers and this will create everlasting memories while in the forest. Trekking takes about 4 to 7 hours including an hour in the presence of these beautiful primates. If lucky enough, meet the gorillas in their family.

After lunch, proceed to meet the Mutwa guide and the park ranger to take a batwa cultural trail in the forest. The Mutwa guide will begin with a prayer and then takes you into the forest to learn about how these unique people used to live in the jungle. Visit their caves, learn how to hunt, gathering fruits, learn about the different medicinal plants and more. In the evening after a 2-3 hours, you will penetrate back to the lodge to prepare for the next day departure.

Day4. Drive back to Kampala

Breakfast will be served at the lodge and then transfer back to Kampala with a stopover at the Uganda equator. Take photos, buy crafts and lunch will be served. Proceed to Kampala and be dropped at the airport and this will mark the end of the safari.
