Day 1. Leave Kigali for Akagera national park, evening game drive
Depending on any agreed pick up point, the driver guide will brief you about the itinerary of this great 3 days Akagera Big 5 Safari. You will then begin the Safari by traveling to the only savanna national park in Rwanda that borders Tanzania hence crossing of wild animals.
Akagera national park is a home to the African big five animals (lions, elephants, buffalos, leopards and rhino). The time taken will be 2 to 3 hours’ drive. Arrive and take part in the evening game drive to enjoy the sunset in the savannahs, animals like the elephants, buffalos, rhinos, giraffes, olive baboons and many more others.
Day 2. Game drive and boat cruise
Take a morning game drive that will last for a 3 hours while exploring the beautiful savannahs in the land of a thousand hills-Rwanda. While here have a great time spotting a good number of animals like the elephants, zebras, Masai giraffes, lions, warthog, olive baboons, rhinos, buffalos, leopards, topi, kudu, bush backs, hyenas and many more others. This game drive also is accompanied with great time of the sunrise, beautiful views and many more others.
In the afternoon immediately after a hot lunch, encounter a boat cruise on lake Ihema where you have a great chase of seeing the crocodiles, hippos, water birds like the kingfishers, fish eagles, endless water scenery and more. The boat cruise takes about 2 hours but rewarding as large mammals will be drinking water quenching their thirsty. Return to the lodge and this marks the end of a historical day.
Day 3. Head back to Kigali
Leave the lodge after breakfast and head to Kigali city. Depending on your time, you will take a short city tour where you get to visit places like the Rwanda genocide memorial site, art and gallery centers, local markets and museums.
